A family-run four-star hotel on the edge of the town at the foot of the mountain, with the ski bus stopping outside the door and the Alpendorf gondola five minutes up the road. The hotel has only recently opened its doors to school groups, and ours are the only British ones.

Students share modern twin and triple ensuite rooms. The hotel has a heated indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool, a wellness area with saunas and a steam room kept for the teachers, and a large garden. After dinner the restaurant is the group’s own for quiz nights and games.

Breakfast is a buffet, lunch is a hot meal on the mountain with the instructors, and dinner is three courses cooked from local produce. Dietary requirements are catered for once the school has sent them to us.

The shops and the spa in town are a short walk away, and our Schools Go Skiing Leader stays with the group all week.

A private three-star hotel halfway up the mountain above Alpendorf, on the red run, with the piste starting at the front door. Groups of 40 or more have the whole hotel to themselves, and no other school operator uses it.

The restaurant is the heart of the place: glass walls and a glass roof looking straight down the valley, and the group’s own in the evenings for quiz nights, a jewellery workshop or a film. Rooms are modern twins with private bathrooms, and there is a sauna for the staff.

Breakfast is a buffet and dinner three courses, with a hot lunch on the mountain each day. Beginners, and everyone on the first two mornings, are driven the five minutes down to the gondola. Once the instructors are happy, the stronger groups ski home at the end of the day.
